Redesigning a Redesign by zypherax Redesigning a Redesign by zypherax
indeed, this is a further redesign of the Na'Vi featured in avatar, as their humanoid shape had bothered me...

this redesign is in fact a redesign of my previous redesigns, and I suspect that in the months to come, I shall create yet more variations of the redesign untill I arrive at something I can finally call finished....

in this particular concept, I saught to highlight the vegitation, as I was rather unimpressed by pandora's alora as well, so I set about changing the basic principles of it...

eh, much more to come soon, I compleeted this particular sketch about four months ago, and there is SOOO much more I must upload!

Better than the movie, but cost less than $300 Million

Thank you!

I think I must ask for clarification on the latter end of the statement though; are you indicating that the film itself cost less than $300 million, or that this design in practical application in the film would cost that amount?

thank you! I am happy to inspire, and perhaps I will do some more redesigns of the film's flora and fauna at some point, but I am currently occupied with a different set of projects... feel free to view some of my other work though, as I have no intentions of ceasing to draw! XD

you are welcome.

after viewing your gallery, I have found that you (like many others) tend to draw typical things found in pop culture, such as dragons, knights, and something that looks suspiciously like the bounty hunter from the star wars films... I say, it would be best to veer away from things such as that, find something in the world that inspires you to imagine and to draw things entirley unlike the things that have already been drawn by other people... I often find that the most mundane of things can inspire fantastic ideas. for instance, take a look at my artist's comments for this piece;[link] , there I rambled on about an idea for a creature inspired by a sketchbook. really though, if you draw things that are at least slightly removed from what is typical, your designs will be far more interesting.

also, work some more on value studies and shadows, as your work seems rather flat now...

Please though, keep drawing! the voyage to decency is a long and difficult one, and I have still not even come close to reaching the destination myself... we shall improve.

Fresh! Yeah, Avatar did try to have its hexapod cake and eat it too. This redesign is hella cool. Does it have eyes, though? That was a pretty common feature on Pandora.

thank you! no, it does not have eyes... I believe I explained the way it 'sees' in one of my journals or on another of the na'vi redesign pages.

thank you.

Very lovely, and an interesting concept.

I do believe why they made the plants and Na'vi resemble the plants on earth and humans so much though is so we could relate back to our planet. It had a good lesson in the movie, which is often just as important as the cool effects.

thank you!

yes, I understand that, but I feel that people should be apreciative of all life forms, and sympathise with their problems... regardless of their aperance. the fact that people could not possibly feel sorrow for the destruction of an ecosystem simply because it does not resemble our own leads me to hope that we humans never develop interstellar travel... the havok the dull headed imperalists would wreak would likley be far worse than that we witnessed in this film.

that is good. XD

then again, I would be thrilled in ways I cannot possibly put into words if we were to find an alien ecosystem.... I simply fear what would become of it due to the meddelings of the folls that populate our world.

My dream is to become a zoologist that studies life on other planets lol. I'd likely be one of the scientists pissed off at the military figures. xD

as would I! although... I would be an artist with a multitued distaste for the militant bigiots, and a background of scientific knowledge. XD

I much prefer this version...I dunno, somehow it just seems to fit in more with the rest of the Pandoran fauna. Plus it looks more agile and better suited to life in the canopy.
And the shading is amazing, as usual ^^

Really cool work! Though it doesn't even remotely resemble Cameron's Na'vi (which is a good thing, their design was terrible), I can still see how a bit of the creature designs from the movie influenced the appearance. Once again, Great job here!

Whoa! I like this na'vi redesign better than th old one, thats for sure. I like the limb design for this hexapod. I was inspired to do my own na'vi when you first put the idea out there--you are right--too human! Great pic again!
